A full account of the important excavations which preceded the display of the complete plan of the easternmost fort on Hadrian's Wall. The report describes the excavations of the hospital, a series of barracks in the retentura and the lesser east gate. The complete ground plans of two cavalry barracks were recovered, and the report is a significant contribution to an new understanding of how the interiors of forts were arranged and used.
