Hadrian's Wall

Spanning 73 miles across the breadth of the North of England, passing through some of the most beautiful landscapes the country has to offer, significant portions of the ancient Hadrian's Wall remain to this day. Starting at Bowness-On-Solway in the west the path of the UNESCO World Heritage Site stretches across the country to Segedunum Roman Fort, in Wallsend to the east of Newcastle.

Three museums on Tyneside (Segedunum Roman Fort, Arbeia South Shields Roman Fort and the Great North Museum: Hancock) tell the story of the Wall through extensive displays of artefacts and full-scale reconstructions.
